Baby Dedication
If you would like to participate in our next Child Dedication and Blessing Ceremony, please fill out the following information. Our Early Childhood Director, Monica Brooks, will then contact you to confirm your time and date, and give further instruction for the ceremony procedures. Please keep in mind that you must attend the Parent Orientation class before registering. These classes are offered once a month. What is Baby Dedication?
Baby Dedication is a solemn charge to you, as parents, to raise your child in a Christian home, teaching, guiding, and modeling a Godly example for your child to follow. It is a ceremony where parents present their child to God and wholeheartedly agree to raise that child in a Godly environment. It is a ceremony where you and your child receive a blessing from the Pastor as you take on this significant task. Baby dedication is NOT infant baptism and is not assurance of salvation.
At what age should my child be presented?
Babies can be dedicated as early as the first scheduled service after they are born. Children may be participate at any age. It is never too late to have your child presented to the Lord in a dedication ceremony.
When is the next Dedication & Blessing Ceremony?
Baby Dedication Ceremonies are scheduled quarterly. The dates are listed on the registration form attached to this brochure and can be found on line as well.
Who may participate in the Dedication & Blessing Ceremony?
This is an event for the entire family. Due to limited space, we ask that only the parents and siblings of the child being dedicated come to the stage. However, we highly encourage grandparents, other family members, and close friends to be invited to the ceremony. Special seating is available for all family and friends attending. You do not have to be a member at Church In The Son to have your child dedicated. All parents who are desirous of presenting their child and receiving this blessing may participate. Please note the pre-requisites listed below.
Child Dedication Step by Step:
Step One: Registration
There are two ways to register: The first is simply fill out the form on this brochure and drop it in the offering or at the G.A.K. Check-In Desk in the foyer of the Children’s Department. Or you have the option of registering online. Just fill out the form and click “submit.” Monica Brooks, our Early Childhood Director, will call to confirm your request, and a Dedication Ceremony packet will be sent to you with complete instructions regarding the Child Dedication process. Registration forms must be received and Parent Orientation Class completed at least two weeks prior to the desired Dedication & Blessing Ceremony date.
Step Two: Parent Orientation
As a pre-requisite for participation in the Dedication and Blessing Ceremony, parents will attend a Parent Orientation. For your convenience, this orientation will be offered the first Wednesday of every month during the evening service. After you have completed the orientation, you may participate in the next scheduled Dedication service of your choice. Information on registering for the Parent Orientation can be found on line and in the Dedication packet.
Step Three: The Dedication and Blessing Ceremony
The Child Dedication and Blessing ceremony will take place during a portion of the regularly scheduled service. Please read the items in your Baby Dedication packet carefully for specific instructions regarding the day of the ceremony.
